Getting Started

Publishing to different formats

This topic describes the general publishing process. See more about each specific format in the following sections.

  1. Select Publish from the context menu of a publication.

  2. Select the output format you wish to publish to.

  3. Choose one of the layout templates in the dropdown. This includes the built-in templates, as well as any layouts you may have created in the Layout Editor.

  4. Choose the language(s) to publish to. If you do not have any translations, you can only select the original/source language.

If you have more languages already translated and approved, you can select among them in this publication. Check Combine selected languages to publish them as one multilingual publication.

  5. If you have set filter metadata (attributes) on topics or elements, and/or have used variables, you can choose to apply filter values and variable values to profile your output here. See Filtering Content and Using Variables to learn how to use these features.

  6. Check the box Save the output in Paligo  if you want to do that. The published result will be available in the Resource Panel for the component. Otherwise the result will just be downloaded locally as soon as it is done.

If you have very large publications, that may take a long time to publish, you can check the box Email me, and then you will be notified with a link to download the publication once it's done.

Every time you publish, there will also be a link in the Dashboard feed to download the published content.

  7. With all options set, click Publish document to start the publishing process.

You will see a progress bar and get a notification if it has been successful.

You can also save your settings, for example if you have set filter and variable values, and then select that setting to publish again, under "Saved settings". Any settings you save can then also be published in batch, using Batch Publishing.
